In short: Quetta is supplied by QESCO. Net billing applications go through the PITC Net Billing Portal (nmp.pitc.com.pk) with QESCO selected, and load extension is on the main ENC portal (enc.com.pk).

Quetta has the best solar output of all the cities we compared. A south-facing 10 kW system produces about 51 units a day, around 18,500 units a year, roughly 18% more than the same system in Lahore. Net billing for a 10 kW system with Solar Net Metering costs Rs 200,000 for QESCO consumers.

Last updated: 21 September 2026. Based on the PITC Net Billing Portal and its installer guidelines, the ENC portal, the NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations 2026 and PVGIS solar data. Sources are listed at the end.

Why Quetta is Pakistan’s strongest city for solar

Quetta sits high in the Balochistan plateau, with dry air and many clear days. Those conditions let more sunlight reach the panels, and the cooler climate helps panels run efficiently. PVGIS long-term averages for Quetta, for a 10 kW system facing south at a 20-degree tilt with 14% system losses:

Month Units per day (10 kW) Month Units per day (10 kW)
January 45 July 49
February 50 August 50
March 53 September 52
April 56 October 52
May 55 November 47
June 53 December 45

Two things stand out. Quetta’s worst months (December and January, about 45 units a day) produce more than Lahore’s yearly average. And there is almost no monsoon dip: July and August still give about 49 to 50 units a day, while Karachi falls to about 35. The practical result is that a smaller system can cover the same use in Quetta than in most of the country. Nearby, Sukkur produces about 17,200 units a year for 10 kW.

How to apply with QESCO

  1. Check your connection. Net billing needs a three-phase connection and a sanctioned load of at least 5 kW, and the solar system cannot be bigger than your sanctioned load.
  2. Extend your load on enc.com.pk if needed. QESCO is one of the companies served directly by the ENC portal, which has an “Extension of Load (Net metering)” section.
  3. Check the transformer on nmp.pitc.com.pk. Solar on a transformer may not exceed 80% of its rating.
  4. Apply for net billing on the PITC portal, as a consumer or through your installer, with QESCO selected.
  5. Agreement, demand notice and meter. QESCO signs the agreement, issues the estimate for interconnection and metering, and installs the bidirectional meter after payment. Systems up to 25 kW no longer need NEPRA’s concurrence (S.R.O. 1320(I)/2026); larger systems still need it before billing starts.

Track progress under “Search Application” on the portal, with QESCO selected. The deadlines NEPRA sets for each stage are in our complete guide to net billing in Pakistan.

Sizing solar for Quetta

Because output is high, use a Quetta-specific figure when sizing. A kW of panels here produces about 154 units a month on average across the year, compared with about 130 in Lahore. Divide your average monthly units by about 154 for a starting estimate:

Under net billing, oversizing mainly adds exported units at a low rate, so size for your use, especially your daytime use. Our sizing guide explains the method, including roof space.
