In short: in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, electricity is supplied by IESCO. Net billing applications go through the PITC Net Metering / Net Billing Portal (nmp.pitc.com.pk), where you select IESCO. If your sanctioned load needs extending first, most IESCO consumers apply on iesco.enc.com.pk. Some divisions and circles use the PowerSmart app or a customer facilitation centre instead.

A south-facing 10 kW system in Islamabad produces about 42 units a day on average, around 15,500 units a year. Net billing for a 10 kW system with Solar Net Metering costs Rs 200,000 for IESCO consumers.

Last updated: 21 September 2026. Based on the PITC Net Billing Portal and its installer guidelines, the NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations 2026 and PVGIS solar data. Sources are listed at the end.

How much solar produces in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

PVGIS, the European Commission’s solar calculator, gives these long-term averages for Islamabad. The settings were a 10 kW system facing south at a 20-degree tilt, with 14% system losses. Rawalpindi is next door, so its figures are very similar.

Month Units per day (10 kW) Month Units per day (10 kW)
January 36 July 40
February 39 August 41
March 44 September 44
April 49 October 44
May 50 November 39
June 48 December 38

The twin cities peak in April to June at close to 50 units a day. Output falls to about 36 to 39 units a day from November to February, when days are short and the sun is low. That winter drop matters: a system sized to cover your whole summer bill will export a lot in May but cover less of your use in January. Yearly output is about the same as Gujranwala and Abbottabad, and a little above Peshawar.

How to apply with IESCO

  1. Check your sanctioned load and phase on your IESCO bill.
  2. Extend your load if needed. The PITC portal directs most IESCO consumers to iesco.enc.com.pk. According to the portal’s notice, consumers of IESCO divisions 1411 and 1412 and circles 142, 143, 145 and 146 should instead visit their nearest customer facilitation centre or use the PowerSmart app. Your IESCO office can confirm which applies to you.
  3. Apply for net billing on nmp.pitc.com.pk, choosing “Apply For Net Billing (By Consumer)” or letting your installer use “By Installer”, with IESCO as your company.
  4. Review, agreement and demand notice. IESCO reviews the case, signs the agreement and issues the estimate for interconnection and metering, which you pay.
  5. Meter installation and billing update. Systems up to 25 kW no longer need NEPRA’s concurrence (S.R.O. 1320(I)/2026); larger systems still need it before billing starts.

Track progress with “Search Application” on the portal: select IESCO and enter your tracking ID, CNIC or reference number. For what the bidirectional meter is and how the demand notice works, see our green meter guide. It is written for LESCO, but the same NEPRA rules apply to IESCO.
