Solar production in Gujranwala and Sialkot

These are PVGIS long-term averages for Gujranwala. The settings were a 10 kW system facing south at a 20-degree tilt, with 14% system losses. Sialkot is close enough that its output is broadly the same.

Month Units per day (10 kW) Month Units per day (10 kW)
January 37 July 38
February 42 August 39
March 47 September 42
April 50 October 44
May 49 November 41
June 46 December 38

Output here closely tracks Lahore, only a short drive south, and Islamabad to the north. Both produce about 15,500 to 15,700 units a year for 10 kW. April and May are the best months at about 50 units a day. The monsoon (July and August) and winter (December and January) both bring output down to the high 30s.

Solar for Sialkot’s and Gujranwala’s industries

Sialkot is known worldwide for export manufacturing such as sports goods and surgical instruments, and Gujranwala has a large base of engineering and manufacturing units. Workshops like these use most of their power in daytime shifts. Under net billing, solar units used on site save the full tariff, while exported units earn far less, so businesses with heavy daytime use get the most value. For the rules that apply to larger systems, see our guide to solar for factories:

How to apply with GEPCO

  1. Check your bill for sanctioned load and phase. Net billing needs a three-phase connection and a sanctioned load of at least 5 kW, and your solar system cannot be bigger than that load.
  2. Extend your load on enc.com.pk if needed. GEPCO is one of the companies served directly by the main ENC portal, which has an “Extension of Load (Net metering)” section with downloadable procedure, conditions, NOC and affidavit documents.
  3. Check the transformer on nmp.pitc.com.pk. Solar on a transformer may not exceed 80% of its rating.
  4. Apply for net billing on the PITC portal, as a consumer or through your installer, with GEPCO selected.
  5. Agreement, demand notice, meter. GEPCO signs the agreement, issues the estimate for interconnection and metering, and installs the bidirectional meter once you pay. Systems up to 25 kW no longer need NEPRA’s concurrence (S.R.O. 1320(I)/2026); larger systems still need it before billing starts.

Track the application under “Search Application” on the portal, with GEPCO selected and your tracking ID, CNIC or reference number. For the meter and demand notice in more detail, see our green meter guide. It is written for LESCO, but the NEPRA rules are the same.
