NEWS · 3 October 2026
OGRA has set petrol at Rs 392.76 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs 399.64 per litre for 3 to 5 October 2026, up Rs 2.10 and Rs 0.30. Pakistan has priced fuel daily since July, using the average international Platts price over seven working days.
What happened
On 2 October the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification revising petroleum prices for 3 to 5 October. Petrol rose by Rs 2.10 to Rs 392.76 per litre, and high-speed diesel rose by Rs 0.30 to Rs 399.64 per litre. The reason given was changes in the international market, Platts rates, premiums and related costs.
Earlier on 2 October, OGRA had raised petrol by Rs 3.26 to Rs 390.66 and cut diesel by Rs 1.01 to Rs 399.34. Diesel now costs Rs 6.88 per litre more than petrol.
| Period | Petrol (per litre) | Diesel (per litre) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 October | Rs 390.66 (up Rs 3.26) | Rs 399.34 (down Rs 1.01) |
| 3 to 5 October | Rs 392.76 (up Rs 2.10) | Rs 399.64 (up Rs 0.30) |
How daily pricing works
The federal cabinet decided in July 2026, announced on 17 July, that OGRA would set petroleum prices every day instead of the government doing it in fixed rounds. Daily prices are based on the average Platts price over seven working days. The government said the aim is more transparency and prices that follow international markets automatically, without government intervention. Because prices can change every day, check OGRA’s website for the rate on the day you fill up.
What it means for you
At Rs 392.76 per litre, the fuel cost of each kilometre depends on how far your car goes on a litre:
| Car does | Fuel cost per km | 1,000 km a month |
|---|---|---|
| 10 km per litre | Rs 39.3 | Rs 39,280 |
| 12 km per litre | Rs 32.7 | Rs 32,730 |
| 15 km per litre | Rs 26.2 | Rs 26,180 |
An electric car driving the same 1,000 km uses about 160 units of electricity (we plan on 0.16 units per km). At the time-of-use off-peak rate of Rs 34.53 per unit before taxes, those units cost about Rs 5,500, or about Rs 5.5 per km. A home solar system that charges the car in the daytime avoids that cost too, because every unit you use yourself saves your tariff. This compares running costs only; an electric car costs far more to buy, and public fast chargers charge more per unit than your own meter.
Read how solar sizing works for a car in our guide to charging an electric car with solar, and see our EV charger installation prices. Units you export to the grid earn only about Rs 8 to 11, so the saving comes from using your solar yourself; see the net billing guide.
Spend less on fuel and power. Solar Net Metering designs solar systems for your own use, handles net billing across Pakistan and installs EV chargers in Lahore: 10 kW net billing costs Rs 160,000 with LESCO and K-Electric, and Rs 200,000 with the other distribution companies.
