In short: Solar Net Metering installs fixed AC wall chargers for electric cars at homes and businesses in Lahore, and can pair them with your solar system. For a standard installation, with the parking spot within 20 m of your distribution board, charger and fitting together cost:

- 11 kW three-phase: Rs 331,000
- 22 kW three-phase: Rs 386,000
Longer cable runs, new circuits and panel upgrades are quoted after a survey. The BYD Atto 3 and Atto 2 sold in Pakistan accept 7 kW AC charging, so a 7.4 kW charger is the usual choice for them.

What the standard installation includes
Standard means the parking spot is within 20 m of your distribution board and the board has room and capacity for a new circuit. It covers:
- a dedicated circuit breaker for the charger
- a 30 mA residual-current device (RCCB)
- a surge protector and a voltage protector
- an earth rod and clamp, and a distribution box
- up to 20 m of 4 mm² copper cable (four-core for three-phase)
- labour to fit and connect the charger
What changes the price
- More than 20 m of cable: Rs 220 per metre extra for single-phase and Rs 385 per metre for three-phase, plus labour for the longer run.
- Extended installation: long runs, conduit or trenching, or a new circuit from the main panel. These start from Rs 110,000.
- Electrical upgrades: panel or wiring work, if your supply cannot carry the charger. These start from Rs 55,000.
- The charger model: the prices above are typical for each size. Your quote names the exact model.
Every figure above is a starting point. The final price depends on your requirements, and your quote confirms it in writing before any work begins.
Which charger do you need?
The car, not the wall charger, sets the charging speed. Check your car’s manual for its AC charging limit. A charger bigger than the car accepts does not charge it faster.
- 7.4 kW single-phase suits most cars on sale here. The BYD Atto 3 and Atto 2 have a 7 kW onboard AC charger and a CCS2 port.
- 3.5 kW is slower, and suits a car that sits at home overnight.
- 11 kW and 22 kW need a three-phase supply and a car that can use them.
Net billing also needs a three-phase connection, so a home with solar on net billing already has the supply the larger sizes need.
Pair the charger with solar
A car that drives 1,000 km a month uses about 160 units, which is roughly 1.2 kW of solar in Lahore. Charging in the daytime on your own solar saves your full tariff, while exported units earn only about Rs 8 to 11. We size the solar for the car and handle the net billing application. Rules and safety we follow
Pakistan’s charging regulations (NEECA, S.R.O. 1646(I)/2024) set a safety checklist for charging stations that is sensible for any installation:
- no portable socket-outlet or adaptor for EV charging, and no extension cord
- outdoor equipment rated at least IPX4, with the socket-outlet at least 800 mm above the ground
- RCD or earth-leakage protection and a proper earthing system, with earth resistance not more than 5 ohms
- the car’s connection within five metres of the charging point
The regulations require charging stations, public or private captive, to register with NEECA (application fee Rs 50,000; annual fee Rs 35,000 for Level 2). They do not separately describe a wall charger for your own car at home. If you plan to sell charging to other people, tell us first, because that is charging-station territory.
