NEWS · 5 September 2026

NEPRA has approved a Rs 2.06 per unit fuel cost adjustment for July 2026 and a 52 paisa per unit quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026. Together they add about Rs 2.58 per unit to September bills, a total burden of about Rs 46 billion on consumers.

What happened

NEPRA decided two separate adjustments:

Who pays

Adjustment Applies to Excluded
FCA, Rs 2.06 K-Electric and government distribution company consumers Lifeline consumers, EV charging stations, prepaid users
Quarterly, 52 paisa All consumers, including K-Electric Lifeline, incremental consumption package and prepaid consumers

What it means for you

For a home that buys 500 units from the grid in September, the two adjustments add about Rs 1,290 before taxes (500 × Rs 2.58). In October and November, the 52 paisa quarterly charge continues, and a further fuel adjustment for August has been requested: see the Rs 1.73 per unit petition.

These charges fall only on units bought from the grid. A solar system sized for your own daytime use avoids them on every unit it supplies directly. Read how that works under the 2026 rules in our net billing guide.

Buy fewer units from the grid. Solar Net Metering designs solar systems for your own use and handles net billing across Pakistan: 10 kW net billing costs Rs 160,000 with LESCO and K-Electric, and Rs 200,000 with the other distribution companies.
