In short: a south-facing 10 kW solar system in Lahore produces about 43 units (kWh) a day on average, or roughly 15,700 units a year. Output peaks at around 50 units a day in April and May and drops to about 37 units a day in January.
Around midday in good sun, it can typically run several 1.5-ton inverter ACs at once, plus fans and lights. With net billing, a 10 kW system needs a sanctioned load of at least 10 kW on a three-phase connection.

How many units does a 10 kW solar system produce in Lahore?
We ran Lahore’s coordinates through PVGIS, the European Commission’s free solar energy calculator, using its ERA5 weather data for 2005 to 2023. The settings were a 10 kW system facing south, tilted at 20 degrees, with 14% allowance for system losses such as wiring, inverter and dust. These are the long-term averages:
| Month | Units per day | Units in the month |
|---|---|---|
| January | 37 | 1,158 |
| February | 43 | 1,212 |
| March | 47 | 1,467 |
| April | 50 | 1,509 |
| May | 49 | 1,523 |
| June | 46 | 1,376 |
| July | 38 | 1,191 |
| August | 39 | 1,202 |
| September | 42 | 1,248 |
| October | 44 | 1,375 |
| November | 41 | 1,229 |
| December | 39 | 1,203 |
| Whole year | 43 on average | About 15,700 |
Two patterns stand out. Spring is the best season, because the sun is strong and the air is relatively clear. July and August dip, even though days are long, because monsoon cloud cuts sunlight. Winter is lowest because days are short and the sun is low.
Real systems vary. Shade from water tanks or neighbouring buildings, a roof facing east or west, heavy smog, and panels that are not cleaned can all push output below these figures. Use the table as a benchmark: if your inverter app shows much less than this in a clear month, have the system checked.
Load capacity: what can a 10 kW system run at the same time?
A 10 kW system does not deliver a steady 10 kW. Power follows the sun, rising through the morning, peaking around midday and falling in the afternoon. Heat and losses mean midday output is usually below the nameplate rating, and the inverter’s rating also caps how much power it can supply.
As a rough guide, these are typical running power figures for common appliances. Always check the label on your own appliance.
| Appliance | Typical running power |
|---|---|
| 1.5-ton inverter AC (after the room has cooled) | About 1,000 to 1,500 W |
| Ceiling fan (standard / inverter) | About 60 to 80 W / 30 to 40 W |
| Refrigerator | About 150 to 250 W while running |
| 1 hp water pump | About 750 W |
| Electric iron | About 1,000 W |
| Washing machine | About 400 to 500 W |
| LED bulb | About 10 to 15 W |
How many ACs can a 10 kW solar system run?
Around midday in good sun, a 10 kW system can usually run roughly four to six 1.5-ton inverter ACs at the same time, with some fans and lights. On hazy days, early in the morning or late in the afternoon it can run fewer. ACs draw more power when they first start and while cooling a hot room, so staggering start times helps.
On an on-grid system, anything the panels cannot supply comes from the grid automatically, so the ACs keep running and you pay LESCO for the extra units. At night, on-grid solar supplies nothing; that is when a hybrid system with batteries helps. See our guide to hybrid solar systems in Lahore.
Is a 10 kW system right for your home?
In Lahore, each kW of panels produces about 130 units a month on average across the year. A 10 kW system therefore suits homes that use about 1,000 to 1,300 units a month, especially if much of that use happens in daylight. Under net billing, units you use yourself save your full tariff, while exported units earn much less, so size the system for your daytime use rather than for export.

10 kW net billing in Lahore: what you need
- Sanctioned load of at least 10 kW. NEPRA’s 2026 rules do not allow a solar system bigger than your sanctioned load. If yours is lower, you need a load extension first. See how to check and increase sanctioned load with LESCO.
- A three-phase connection. Net billing applicants must be three-phase 400V or 11kV consumers.
- Room on the local transformer. Applications are not accepted once solar on your transformer reaches 80% of its rated capacity.
- No NEPRA licence fee. Systems of 25 kW or less pay no licence fee.
- Net billing service price: with Solar Net Metering, net billing for a 10 kW system costs Rs 160,000 with LESCO, or Rs 200,000 with the other distribution companies.

Frequently asked questions
How many units does a 10 kW solar system produce per day in Lahore?
About 43 units a day on average over the year, based on PVGIS data for a south-facing system at a 20-degree tilt. Expect around 50 units a day in April and May and around 37 in January.
How many units does a 10 kW solar system produce per month?
Between about 1,160 units in January and 1,520 units in May, with a yearly average of roughly 1,300 units a month.
Can a 10 kW solar system run 5 ACs?
Often yes, around midday in good sun, if they are 1.5-ton inverter ACs that have already cooled their rooms. In weaker sun or when several ACs start together, part of the power will come from the grid.
Does a 10 kW on-grid system work during load shedding?
No. On-grid inverters switch off when the grid goes down, for safety. You need a hybrid inverter with batteries for backup.
How much does 10 kW net billing cost in Lahore?
With Solar Net Metering, net billing for a 10 kW system costs Rs 160,000 with LESCO and K-Electric, and Rs 200,000 with the other distribution companies.
